About

General

ColposcopySkills.com is an online skills development and assessment application designed for colposcopists of varying levels of experience and expertise. It includes an extensive library of real colposcopy cases, ranging from the normal cervix to invasive cancer.

Use the Colpo Viewer to perform the examination, apply acetic acid, use filters/contrast enhancement and apply biopsy markers. For each case you can see necessary patient background details and actual histology.

Colpo Viewer

The Colpo Viewer is an interactive player which allows you to replicate a real colposcopic examination. It starts with the cervix in view and before acetic acid has been applied. You can trigger the acetowhitening and watch it develop over a sequence of images. Replay the image sequence, magnify and use green and contrast enhancement filters to study morphology (e.g. abnormal vessels or lesion margins) and complete your assessment. Indicate your colposcopic impression and add biopsy markers at areas of concern. Overlay the proprietary dynamic spectral imaging map (DYSISmap) on the cervical image and use it as an adjunct to your initial assessment. The DYSISmap quantifies the intensity and duration of the acetowhitening process, assigning a color from cyan blue to white. Areas of red, yellow and white are indicative of highest acetowhitening response.

Compare the areas you indicated for biopsy to actual biopsies taken at the time of examination and their histology outcomes, and indicate the appropriate management plan.

Expert Results & Scoring

Each case on Colposcopy Skills has been thoroughly reviewed by an expert colposcopist, providing clinical interpretation of the images and the morphology, suggestions on where to biopsy and commentary with respect to pathology, guidelines, literature, etc. After entering your suggested management plan, you can see all the selections of the expert, the suggested areas for biopsy and additional comments about that case.

Your findings and biopsy selections are compared to those of the expert that reviewed each case.

Case scores are calculated by comparing your biopsy area selections against actual CIN2+ biopsies and the areas suggested for biopsy by the expert, and also consider your colposcopic impression, the recognition of morphological features and management plan.
